Centreville is for Kids...

I love that jingle, but I didn't fully appreciate the amusement park until last year, when we took Aidan to Centreville. Although the day started out with gray and drizzling, it turned out to be a beautiful day. To think I didn't want to go to Centreville today. Outrageous!
We met up with Warren's in-laws who had six to seven kids on their side. Aidan had a wonderful time hanging out with the Lie and Wong clan....he was all smile and very energetic. Who wouldn't be energetic after eating home-made rice krispies squares made by Auntie Betty (she's the best) and funnel cake with the Works (icing sugar and ice cream).

Aidan rode the pony (ride em cowboy); went on the log ride (all smiles); ship and fire engine ride. He wanted to go on the train and a few other games, but we ran out of tickets.

Mr. Potato Head

Wallace bought Aidan a Spidey Spud (Potato Head) and here's Aidan and Wallace imitating Mr. Potato Head.

Ahoy there matey!

We spent the afternoon at the harbourfront admiring the Bluenose II. It was at the harbourfront until Monday, June 23 in the afternoon and it set sail back to Nova Scotia.

Although it started raining when we were on the Bluenose II, Aidan didn't seem to mind it....all he cared about was checking out all the nook and cranny of the ship.

Afterwards, he spent sometime in the Harbourfront playground and met new some new friends to play Station Master.

Dufflet Chocolate Cake

My brother came for dinner last night and had a Dufflet Chocolate Truffle Cake delivered to our place. Hmm. Needless to say, we had a feast: M&M souvlaki sticks; beef kalbi BBQ, vegetables and chocolate cake. Yum. Thanks brother (-:
I wasn't a very nice host, I kept nodding off after dinner, I was so tired from the Garage Sale and BBQ Lunch....Sorry brother! (-:
Update on the Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Cake (June 28, 2008): Aidan made a bee line for the fridge tonight after dinner and wanted a piece of the Chocolate cake. After having a slice of the cake, this is what's left of the cake. Hmmm.....so good.

Street Sale

Every year my friends and I have a garage sale at my place. But this year I added a twist to the garage sale and made it into a Street Sale. A few of my neighbors were interested in having one and since I was planning to have garage sale, we set it up into a Street Sale, where quite a few of the neighbors within our block joined Garage Sale on June 21. People came in droves to the sale and I was able to sell 7 of 13 boxes, plus my friend Kumari's garage sale items. As usual, we had some crazy weather, sunny in the morning, cloudy towards the early afternoon, where it finally rained at around 2pm.
Aidan spent time with his friend Andrew and Tyler who were very accommodating in letting Aidan hang out with them during the garage sale and watching tv at their house. I met my neighbors who I would not normally see, because of the different schedules.

A garage sale would not be complete, without a bbq lunch.

Thought for the day

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a
Well. The animal cried piteously for hours as
The farmer tried to figure out what to do.

Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the
Well needed to be covered up anyway; It just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and
Help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began
To shovel dirt into the well. At first, the
Donkey realized what was happening and cried
Horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he
Quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally
Looked down the well. He was astonished at what
He saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his
Back, the donkey was doing something amazing.
He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel
Dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it
Off and take a step up.

Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey
Stepped up over the edge of the well and
Happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you,…

Father's Day Celebration

It was a bizarre day, in terms of the weather we had on Father's day, it was sunny, we had thunderstorm; it rained and it was sunny and more rain. What's even more bizarre, we still had a chance to enjoy and take advantage of the sun in spite of the weather. The kids played with the snake sprinkler, soccer ball, the itsy bitsy pool ring and bbq.

It was a great father's day celebration.

On that note....I wish my dad is still around. It would have been nice to see his smile, when he sees Aidan's antics.

ATC Night - Asian Theme

June's ATC night Theme is Asian.  I was inspired by the Bookbinding class I took with Akemi Nashideri, so I chose to cover my ATC size cardstock with Chiyogami paper, as if it's a book cover;  adhere a gold glossy cardstock on the other side of the cardstock and affix a Japanese Print stickers I've collected throughout the yearsand voila!

Bookbinding 101 at Kozo Studio

We had our last class at Kozo Studio on Tuesday, June 3.  We sat and talked for most of the night but finished our fabric / cloth paper bound book.
I love my book and would love to make another  one.  How can I buy another journal book, after making this one?

Adventure with Aidan at S. Walter Stewart

S. Walter Stewart library re-opened it's doors on May 29.  The library is known for it's unique circular structure.  It was closed for a year and a half and under went a renovation.   We went to visit the library on Thursday night and what an awesome sight.
The renovation gave the library a much needed facelift and made it into one of the state of the art library.   It is now airy and well lit.  The entrance from the parking lot and front door meets into a foyer and a sliding door leads you into an amazing setup.   The library is now equipped with a self-checkout and check-in area because of the radio frequency scanners and tags in each library book.   This allows you to checkout your book with a few touches on the computer screen.

The childrens' area is situated downstairs and Aidan had a blast with the books and activity area.  I think he could have stayed there for another few hours, but the library was closing soon. The library visit was met with some mishaps with Ai…

Venetian Mask

Our dollar store challenge was to convert this plastic eye glasses.

I had fun converting these glasses into my Venetian mask. Great, I'm all set for Halloween 2008.
